Culinary Uses of fennel

Fennel has a strong licorice flavour. Finely Chopped leaves paticularly enhance potato salad and fish. 

Fennel is the  best herb to flavour fish . 

Growing Fennel

Sow seeds in spring in a sunny position in light well drained soil. 

Once growing fennel prefers dry soils and grows best near the coast.

Medicinal Uses of Fennel

Use Fennel seed tea to bathe sore eyes.

Fennel is a good diuretic.  

Fennel aids in the digestion of  rich and fatty foods and can be used to relieve flatulence. 

Fennel will also increase milk in feeding mothers and relieve colic.
